Email hosting receives, stores, and sends messages on behalf of a company's domain. Employees use addresses such as name@company.uz, while the provider operates the mail infrastructure. This is more than rented disk space: the design affects employee access, archive migration, domain protection, and monthly costs.
It is easy to compare only price and gigabytes. That is not enough. A cheap package may not support the required client, include migration, or help with DNS. Here is how to compare providers in Uzbekistan on equal terms without changing operational email before the new environment is verified.
What email hosting actually provides
The domain, DNS, website, and email are connected but separate services. A registrar records domain ownership. DNS tells systems where the website and mail servers live. Web hosting publishes pages. Email hosting operates mailboxes and message routes. Moving email therefore rarely requires moving the website or transferring domain control.
A complete business email service normally includes:
- servers for receiving and outgoing transfer;
- mailbox storage with defined quotas;
- webmail or settings for external applications;
- IMAP access and authenticated SMTP where the plan provides them;
- unwanted-message filtering;
- an administrative process for creating and closing addresses;
- MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC values;
- support for initial setup and incidents within agreed boundaries.
One item does not imply the rest. Forwarding to a personal address is not an independent mailbox: it has no separate sign-in or archive. A browser interface does not guarantee IMAP access from Outlook or a phone. See our guide to IMAP and SMTP.
Three service models
A dedicated email service
An email-only provider focuses on domain addresses, storage, and delivery. It suits companies that already have document, messaging, and calendar tools. Pricing may be per domain, package, user, or storage, so compare the final configuration rather than the lowest advertised price.
An office suite with email
Large cloud suites bundle email with calendars, meetings, files, and document editors. This is useful when the team will use the whole ecosystem. If it needs only domain email, part of the cost and complexity may cover unused features. Separate necessities from extras; see “Google Workspace, Yandex 360, or Email Hosting?”.
A self-hosted server
A company can install mail software on its own server or VPS. That offers technical control and also transfers responsibility for updates, monitoring, filtering, certificates, outgoing-IP reputation, and recovery. What to compare between providers
List employees and service addresses first. Identify full mailboxes, aliases, and forwarding. For an address such as sales@, decide whether it needs separate sign-in, who replies, and how access closes when someone leaves.
Ask every candidate the same questions:

Do not infer a process from one word in an advertisement. Ask who receives quota alerts, how recovery is tested, and where sending errors are recorded. Mandatory MFA, availability, or retention requirements need explicit provider confirmation.

What companies in Uzbekistan should check
Compare local service terms as well as features. Confirm whether prices are in Uzbek soum, who receives payment, and which invoices, completion certificates, or other documents the company receives. Check support language, hours, and time zone: a nearby server does not help when nobody can investigate a DNS error during switchover.
A .uz domain may have one registrar while DNS is hosted elsewhere. Before ordering, establish who has administrative access, who will enter records, and who can restore old values quickly. The email provider usually does not need ownership of the domain; coordinated mail-record changes are enough.
Request the data-processing architecture: where mailboxes, logs, and backups reside; which external gateways handle outgoing delivery; and what happens after termination. A TAS-IX connection or low latency does not prove that the entire delivery chain and every copy remain in Uzbekistan. Document each component when locality is mandatory.
Calculating total cost
Organizational email hosting costs more than the subscription alone. Domain registration, extra mailboxes and storage, migration, external-sender configuration, non-standard work, and device assistance may be separate. Annual billing may be cheaper, but review exit and export terms before prepaying.
Prepare recurring and one-time calculations. Recurring cost covers actual mailbox count and storage. One-time cost covers DNS audit, migration, website or CRM configuration, and employee switchover time. “Unlimited addresses” never means unlimited storage, performance, or sending; every service has technical and contractual limits.

How a provider builds the foundation for deliverability
A good provider routes incoming mail correctly and authenticates outgoing messages. MX defines reception; SPF lists authorized senders; DKIM adds a verifiable signature; DMARC connects authentication to the visible From domain. Together with control messages, these mechanisms create the technical foundation for delivery.

As with any provider, the recipient makes the final filtering decision. The provider's value lies in correct configuration, a verifiable route, and clear diagnosis when a recipient applies another filter.
How to move without losing new messages
Migration begins with an inventory, not MX. Record mailboxes, aliases, forwarding, automated senders, and archive sizes. Create addresses with the new provider, obtain exact DNS values, and test access before changing the route.
MX sends new incoming messages to the new provider but does not copy history. Move the archive separately, often over IMAP. During DNS propagation, some senders can still see the old route, so keep the previous service available until acceptance. See the business email migration plan.
After switching, test both directions from several external systems, sign in from phone and computer, inspect technical headers, and test critical automated senders. Only then retire the old environment.
